Building Smart Tools for Sustainable Cities: UNITAC at Urban October 2022

In the framework of Urban October 2022, UNITAC Hamburg hosted "Building Smart Tools for Sustainable Cities", a webinar to learn about the successes and challenges in the process of developing digital tools to support cities in their digital transformation journeys.

Created to raise awareness, promote participation, generate knowledge and engage the international community in creating a better urban future. Every October UN-Habitat and partners organize a month of activities, events and discussions on urban sustainability.

Urban October is an opportunity for people around the world to join the conversation around the challenges and opportunities created by the fast pace of change in our cities and towns. National and local governments, universities, non-governmental organizations, communities and other stakeholders in sustainable urbanization are encouraged to hold or participate in activities, events, and discussions.

The webinar hosted by UNITAC presented four different tools: BEAM and the City Resilience Tool both developed by UNITAC, as well as COSI from the HafenCity University and the City Access Map by Delft University of Technology. Team members of each of the projects presented reflected on the process of developing such applications and answered questions from the audience.
