About the training

During this training, participants will be introduced to the concept of smart city development and the use of digital technologies, including AI, in the governance of municipalities. 

The training will feature case studies, fundamentals of using digital tools, an introduction to capacity building, and pragmatic recommendations to best leverage digital tools and data for resilient and sustainable cities and communities.

The training aims to:

  • Introduce municipality boards to global digital governance frameworks, strategies and approaches, including best practices from local governments around the world. 
  • Increase the foundational understanding of digital transfor mation in the context of urban governance and development of municipalities in Kenya 
  • Equip municipal boards and local government leaders with skills to navigate the digital landscape effectively and to design and implement people-centred smart-city strategies and governance measures.
  • Promote information exchange and peer learning among Kenya’s Municipal Boards and urban governance officials.
